better late than never right

So here is the square for Feb. Not perfect but I am guessing that
if it was perfect it would not have been home made.
Dont worry I will get Marchs done before May.
Just kidding working on it today.

April's Square

Jennifer Russell has our April square.  Can everyone do their best to get all the squares finished so we can concentrate on Jennifer?  I think we are still waiting for a few people to finish up February's Log Cabin and March's Black/White improv.

If anyone needs any help with any of the patterns, just give a yell.

I hope everyone is having as much fun with this as I am!

Here is my "square" for Terri!

I am having so much fun!

I am already working on what I want to do in July... what I can say right now is that you will need your scraps. Don't throw them away!

(Marnita, remember the Book of Mormon quilt from several years ago? Well, the squares have sat in a box in my "work room" languishing. I got them out, finished the stitching around all of the figures and then chose the sashing and border and binding and the back... I think it will get done! I am so excited. Did you finish yours? I need to save money to take all of these quilts to the "Arkansas Man Quilter".)

Sprouting Lil' Blog

I was wondering how you guys would feel if we changed our blog up with a different template or something? I know Connie and Marnita worked furiously to get it going for us in the midst of family crisis, I'm glad we have one- thought now would be a good time to spruce it up a bit. Suggestions? Questions? Concerns? Cares? Dreams? Wishes?

Caught up....

So...it's been awhile since I was able to devote much time to our little blog. Though I do love it, I wish we had more traffic coming through and that we had enough time to sew all that we wanted to sew! I FINALLY finished Connie's square, but I'm also ahead of the game with Terri's- AND it's still March! Amazing. They were oh so fun to put together, I'm ready for more! I hope you ladies like them..I always find myself skittish at first wondering if the fabrics will look good together, but I don't think you can make that judgement until your block is finished. I'm happy with them ;) Hope you two are as well. Much love xonikki

Llewellyn's March Square!

Hello Ladies! I'm posting this for my mom...Today is her 65th birthday, and she wanted us to quilt all day long- or for as long she wanted to. It's been fun, especially since it is National Quilting Day and there are lots of deals lurking out there. (I can feel them!) Anywho..here are her geese for Terri. Enjoy!

Terri's Quilt Squares!!

I am posting this for Terri.

I am going to make a quilted runner for my bed.  I will use 10 of the squares for the runner and 2 for pillows/shams (can't decide).

Fabric colors:
black, white and one other color of your chosoing.

Size: -- 6" x 18" (equals the same amount of fabric as a 12" x 12" square)

Pattern -- improve / crazy square.   That's right, no pattern!   you can use 3 pieces of fabric.  You can use solids and prints or prints all the way or solids only, just make sure you only 3 colors.  Black, white, and 1 other color that you get to choose!  Square it off to make a 6" x 18"  and then you are finished and ready for the April square!!

Have fun!! I can't wait to see what I end up with!!

Pictures of fabrics below that work well for this:

Happy Quilting!!!

Log Cabin by Jennifer R.

When I threaded my machine tonight, it gave me a RUSH! I was SO happy to get to it! I really enjoyed putting this block together. I am wondering how many of you are using a 1/4 inch foot. I know that it probably has a different name. It really makes quilting so LESS intimidating. Through the years, as I've watched my mom put together quilts, I was FEARFUL. Fearful- of attemping to sew a 1/4 inch seam Over and Over again. HA! I am quite certain without this foot, I would sew in large zig zags.

Anywho, =) I loved this block. Thank you, Connie, for choosing it. I hope you like my color scheme!!!
Ok, I am out of control! Can't stop! I'm avoiding housework, cooking and even gardening... this is bad!

Sent 2 squares to Connie... I really like the "scrappy" ones better than my homogeneous one.

Had so much fun making Jennifer's zig-zags, I made some of my own. I think I will border it with the "Scooby Doo" fabric and give it to my grandsons for a TV "lap" blanket.

I have had a stack of these squares that my Grandma Grace made years ago. (she's been gone for over 20 years!) I have hung on to them waiting for inspiration. There were 20 squares in all, so I have been able to put 2 quilts together. I did the sashing in a "white-on-white" fabric. Then each top has a small border of the fabric that will be it's backing. I think Grandma would be pleased. (If I had really been on the ball I would have put a colored square in the middle of the white "9-squares"... LOL) Grandma was getting old when she made the squares and some of them have mistakes. I have left the mistakes, it adds to the character of the squares.

Bring on the plan for March, Terri! (Who needs a clean house and home cooked food anyway... they are highly overrated!)

Lara's Cabin

This is my very scrappy, scrappy log cabin. Hope you really wanted scrappy. I want to tear it up and make it match more, but I will refrain-although I might need to make another one. I didn't alternate my dark side like others have done. Would you like me to do that? I really don't mind.
Obviously, I had fun with the whole idea of a log cabin and enjoyed using the tutorial with my students at school.

Log Cabin

Here it is, Connie. I hope you like it. I loved putting this together. It was so fun! I hope the colors are okay. Picking out the colors and putting them all together was really hard for me. I haven't used these kinds of creative juices in a looooong time. It's tempting to take it apart and redo it, because now I can "see" things I didn't "see" before, things that I think would make it look so much better. However, if I do that you might not get it until December. So, I've decided to be patient with myself and hope that I will get better at using the creative side of my brain. I can't wait to get started on the next one. What's next???

Finishing

Hey Ladies!  Sorry to keep bugging everyone but I want to make sure we finish up the Log Cabin square for February so we can give Terri's March square all of our attention.  Can you please post your photos as you quickly finish up the Log Cabin?

Terri, I can't wait to get started on your square!
